Scholarship Announcement for Camp Colby Summer 2023





The Piseco Lake Association (PLA) is pleased to announce a scholarship opportunity for two children between the ages of 11-17 to partcipate in a weeklong experience at Camp Colby in the Summer of 2023.

The Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) operates Camp Colby in Saranac Lake (Franklin County), offering week-long adventures exploring nature and engaging in conservation education. Each week campers may participate in hiking, canoeing, and overnight camping adventures. In addition to exploring nature, campers have an opportunity to engage in team and trust-building activities.

Camp Colby will offer one-week camping sessions (Sunday to Friday) beginning July 2, 2023. The scholarship recipients will receive the registraton cost for 1 week attendance ($350) which includes meals, trips, and a camp t-shirt. Parents of scholarship contestants will be responsible to choose the week of preference, register online, provide transportaton, and the PLA will take care of the cost, up to $350.00 per child.

Applicant Qualificatons
ï‚· Contestants must between the ages of 11 and 17
ï‚· Fulltime or seasonal residents of the Town of Arietta

Application Instructions
ï‚· Submit a 2-minute video (may be recorded on a smart phone)
ï‚· Include a self-introduction, which includes your name and description of your relationship to Piseco Lake or the Town of Arietta
ï‚· Identify three things you like to do in nature.
ï‚· Explain why you think it is important to preserve or protect the environment.

Send videos by email to membership@pisecolake.org by midnight March 10, 2023. Include your name, email address and telephone number for contact. Scholarship recipients will be selected by the scholarship committee and will be notfied by telephone or email by March 15, 2023.
