Piseco Lake Monitoring

On October 4, 2022, Dr. Julian Damashek and 11 biology students from Utica University conducted water sampling on Piseco Lake.  Sampling measurements at several depths of the Lake consisted of water temperature, dissolved oxygen, nutrients (nitrate, nitrite, ammonium, urea, and phosphate), chlorophyll, and turbidity. Also, the students collected water samples from several depths and filtered the water for microscopic examination back at the University laboratory.   In addition, tow nets were deployed to collect phytoplankton and zooplankton, for microscopic examination at the lab.  The student photos were taken on the Lake during sampling activities.
